This is a 4-hour experience in Phnom Penh. It is run by Siem Reap er Travel, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Phnom Penh sits where the Mekong, the Tonle Sap and the Bassac meet, and the riverfront promenade along Sisowath Quay is where the city walks in the evening. Koh Dach, the silk island, is a short ferry upstream and still has weavers working handlooms under their houses, selling direct. Oudong, 40 kilometres north-west, was the royal capital for more than 250 years until 1866 and its hilltop stupas hold the ashes of kings. The Central Market's art deco dome opened in 1937 and the Russian Market, properly Psar Toul Tom Poung, is the one for silver, silk and knock-offs.

Really great tour! Guide was fantastic and spoke very good english and was fun and knowledgeable.
guide was brilliant, so knowledgeable I was not expecting a tuk tuk and it was a bit difficult getting on and off the boat.
Tour was great! Guide was super informative and we learnt a lot both from his general knowledge and experiences. Silk Island was beautiful, favourite thing we have done in Phnom Penh since we arrived and the unlimited drinks were a blessing in tie heat! I will say we did think it was a car picking us up but it was tuk tuk - it was fine but a bit confusing at the start! 😄
Despite a bumpy accident with the tuk tuk (it happens, I guess) in the beginning, they immediately sent a new one. Vuthy, our guide, welcomed kindly on the boat and gave great explanations about the Mekong river and the history of his country. Once we arrived on the island, Vuthy explained everything with passion. We learned a lot about Buddhism and the silk island. He even bought us fried bananas so we could have something to eat during the trip in the island. We really appreciated him and the tour was simply amazing, it’s really worth it even though it can be a little bit expensive.
The tour was exceptional. I truly enjoyed the private tour, my guide was well versed and spoke great English. To see the children in their environment was amazing and humbling. To experience the silk island was a hidden gem. Amazing experience.
It was a really great tour with a good guide! It was amazing to see how the silk is prepared, from the worm to the fabric. You can also buy scarves, clothes,.. they make there.
This was actually a great day out, we did a quick lap of the main sights of the city and stopped at a temple on the way to the ferry. Once across to the island we drove around to get an idea of the lifestyle of the locals and even called into the local school before continuing and eventually making our way to the silk farm. Our guide had good English language skills, had a range of cold drinks and the vehicle was comfortable including air conditioning. I would highly recommend this tour again
The tour extended beyond just silk island activities; it encompassed much more. Daniel "the guide" offered in-depth insights into Cambodia's culture and religion, providing a contemporary and fresh perspective. This served as an excellent prelude to delving into the intricate process of artisanal silk production and gaining a deeper understanding of this captivating community.
wonderful trip ! we went to the golden temple and explored how the Buddha was born and life of the Buddha and the religion Buddhism - we learnt so much about Phnom Penh and the silk island - watching all the silk makers at work and how complex some patterns can be as well as having the opportunity to see fully how the silk 100% is produced from these cocoons! was so amazing and so educational ! loved every second & the link ferry with the tarantula for sale as snacks ! 😂
