Full description
This is a 14-hour experience in Phnom Penh. It is run by ASEAN ANGKOR GUIDE, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Angkor Wat was built in the first half of the 12th century by Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple to Vishnu, later turned to Buddhist use, and it is the largest religious monument on earth at roughly 162 hectares inside its moat. Unlike almost every other Khmer temple it faces west. The outer gallery carries about 600 metres of bas-relief, including the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, and the central towers represent Mount Meru. The upper level has a dress code that is actually enforced: shoulders and knees covered, no vests, or you are turned back at the stairs. An Angkor Pass is required and costs USD 37 for one day, 62 for three and 72 for seven, sold only through Angkor Enterprise; under-12s are free on a passport.

Our private tour of Tuol Sleng Prison and Cheong Ek Memorial was both hugely interesting and hugely sobering and made more so by the fact thatvour guide was a survivor of the Khmer Rouge era whi had lost a number of family members during that time. The personal anecdotes made it even more real and being able to chat with a 93 year old survivor of Tuol Sleng prison was very poignant. This tour is highly recommended for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge regime.
I can not recommend this tour enough. The service was excellent and the guide told stories that no book can tell and made sure you understand the places you are seeing without any rush. if you just have one day in Phnom Penh, make sure you make this tour!
This tour is incredibly sad but not to be missed. We really enjoyed our time with Channuk, he is a survivor and graciously shared many personal family stories with us. He went above and beyond by teaching us common Khmer words and phrases. The van transportation had great AC and the cold water and cold towels were a nice bonus. If you’re going to visit S-21 and the killing fields, you should definitely choose this tour!
Channak was an excellent guide . He was early to pick me up at my hotel and patient while I came to the lobby . His first hand family experience and knowledge of Cambodias history was fascinating and extremely sad. On entering the site of The Killing fields, Channak and I sat away from everyone else and he educated me further on the history of Cambodia and what led to the Khmer Rouge taking over . I could see other tours going in and out while we talked . This extra knowledge and history really made a difference to understanding the past and how things are repeated to this day across the world
My guide Seng Sophal was excellent! He speaks so good english and explained to me everything so clear and brilliant. Channak is an experienced guide and extremely informative when sharing details about the sad history of Cambodia.
