Full description

This is a 1-day experience from Phnom Penh, built around Choeung Ek, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Silver Pagoda. Phnom Penh's Royal Palace has been the residence of the Cambodian king since 1866 and is still lived in, so the royal apartments are closed and the Throne Hall is seen from outside. The Silver Pagoda in the same compound takes its name from the five thousand silver tiles of its floor, most now covered to protect them, and holds a Buddha of 90 kilograms of gold set with over two thousand diamonds. The palace enforces a dress code at the gate: shoulders and knees covered for everyone. The National Museum next door has the best Khmer sculpture anywhere, and it closes for lunch.
