Full description

This is an experience in Phnom Penh. It is run by Meet The Province, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Khmer food is milder than Thai and sourer than Vietnamese, built on prahok fermented fish paste and on kroeung, a lemongrass, galangal, turmeric and kaffir-lime paste pounded fresh. The dish everyone is taught is fish amok, a coconut curry steamed in a banana-leaf cup until it sets like a custard; lok lak, pepper-seared beef with a lime-and-pepper dipping sauce, is the other. Kampot pepper, which has a protected origin, turns up in both. Classes usually start in a market, where the guide walks you through the fermented fish, the palm sugar and the river fish before anything is cooked.

The price covers Market tour, Preparation, Introduction and preparation of ingredients, Other pre-cooking preparation and Presentation and answer. It does not cover Entrance fees, Transfers from and to your hotel/guesthouse and Others that are not mentioned in the inclusions, so budget for those separately. Really recommend this experience for anyone with an interest to local cuisine and with an afternoon spare. Day started at 3pm and they took us through the local market which was so fun. When we got back the instructions were clear and easy making it very fun.
