Full description
This is a 7-hour experience from Phnom Penh, built around Kampong Speu Province, Oudong and Koh Chen. It is run by About Cambodia Travel and Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Phnom Penh sits where the Mekong, the Tonle Sap and the Bassac meet, and the riverfront promenade along Sisowath Quay is where the city walks in the evening. Koh Dach, the silk island, is a short ferry upstream and still has weavers working handlooms under their houses, selling direct. Oudong, 40 kilometres north-west, was the royal capital for more than 250 years until 1866 and its hilltop stupas hold the ashes of kings. The Central Market's art deco dome opened in 1937 and the Russian Market, properly Psar Toul Tom Poung, is the one for silver, silk and knock-offs.

I met other travelers who told me that they struggled to find activities during their Phnom Penh portion of their Cambodia trip. To them I say that they should have considered this tour to Oudong. The temples in Oudong had spectacular views on top of the mountain, and they weren't so crowded compared to temples in the city. But I think the part of the tour I enjoyed the most was riding the tuk tuk through the outskirts to get to and from Oudong. Such an amazing tour! Kim and his driver collected me from my hotel right on time and we headed off to Oudong. We chatted along the way and I learned many things, Kim is so knowledgeable. We stopped at Preaek Phnov market along the way which was really interesting then carried on our journey. It was a really hot day and there were a lot of steps to climb at Oudong mountain but the stupas and the views were worth it. Later we took a look at the nearby Buddhist monastery before visiting the silver maker. I bought several jewellery items here as I could be certain that the silver is genuine (do n

Mr. Ek was an exceptional tour guide-attentive, funny, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about his country, Cambodia.
