Full description
This is an experience from Phnom Penh, built around Central Market, Wat Phnom and Koh Oknha Tei. It is run by Siem Reaper Travel, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Phnom Penh sits where the Mekong, the Tonle Sap and the Bassac meet, and the riverfront promenade along Sisowath Quay is where the city walks in the evening. Koh Dach, the silk island, is a short ferry upstream and still has weavers working handlooms under their houses, selling direct. Oudong, 40 kilometres north-west, was the royal capital for more than 250 years until 1866 and its hilltop stupas hold the ashes of kings. The Central Market's art deco dome opened in 1937 and the Russian Market, properly Psar Toul Tom Poung, is the one for silver, silk and knock-offs.

Amazing trip and a lovely tour guide July (I can’t pronounce or spell his correct name!). July had so much knowledge to share and took us to some fantastic locations. It was very relaxing to see Phnom Penh via a Tuk Tuk and the driver was lovely too - it felt very safe. Our Tuk Tuk driver was very friendly and helpful. He took us on afterwards when requested. However, this tour didn’t include any information about where we visited. We were dropped off then picked up. This was fine for us- but if you want a tour that has a tour guide this isn’t the one.

The Palace and temple were lovely. The market was interesting. There wasn't a lot to the independence statue. The tour only lasted about three hours which makes it a bit hard to justify the price. Yes, it was very hot, but I would have preferred to spend a bit more time in the tuk tuk just driving around and taking in the city, to get a real feel for the place and to feel like I had better value for money.
The driver was great, however it was expensive for what it was. You’re better off just getting a Tuktuk from place to place for a couple of dollars. €19 each without a guide is a rip off. We were done in a couple of hours. Don’t recommend at all. Again, no reflection on the driver, he was very nice.
Het voelt veilig bij hem in de tuktuk, ondanks de verkeerschaos. Hele fijne manier van in een korte tijd wat must sees af gaan.
