This is a 5-hour experience in Phnom Penh, built around Mongkol Serey Temple, Koh Oknha Tei Market and Koh Oknha Tei. It is run by Siem Reaper Travel, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Phnom Penh sits where the Mekong, the Tonle Sap and the Bassac meet, and the riverfront promenade along Sisowath Quay is where the city walks in the evening. Koh Dach, the silk island, is a short ferry upstream and still has weavers working handlooms under their houses, selling direct. Oudong, 40 kilometres north-west, was the royal capital for more than 250 years until 1866 and its hilltop stupas hold the ashes of kings. The Central Market's art deco dome opened in 1937 and the Russian Market, properly Psar Toul Tom Poung, is the one for silver, silk and knock-offs.

Tintin and Smuey looked after us so well. We saw & learned so much. Tintin encouraged questions & was so full of energy. They were both so attentive (we mentioned we didn’t have lunch) and stopped off for a quick bite & even got us a snack! The silk worms, cows and tofu skin factory were a highlight. Great sites, great guide and great experience! Highly recommend this authentic feel of Cambodian life!
This was a wonderful tour to the silk islands - filled with authentic experiences. We experienced first hand how dried tofu is made in very harsh working conditions. The second highlight was to visit a local family owned silk weaving factory. The whole process was demonstrated and it is clear that weaving the intricate patterns is a skill that takes decades to master. Driving through the lush island vegetation by tuk-tuk felt like being part of a movie. Highly recommended Our guide was also super informative, treated us with cold water, a beer as well as a fruit platter.
This was honestly one of the best experiences we had in Cambodia. Our guide Lee was absolutely amazing: professional, incredibly passionate and absolutely the best. His English was excellent and very easy to understand, which made the whole experience even better. He explained everything, answered every question, and made the tour fun and unforgettable from beginning to end. Simply the best guide we could have asked for. I would recommend this experience to anyone without hesitation.

Definitely enjoyed this tour, just did the half-day silk island. Kim was an excellent guide and spent a lot of time explaining history, culture and traditions. We stopped at a market, cafe, tuna skins production place and a silk factory. Very informative, one drink provided and yummy snacks. Transport selected was by tuk-tuk, which was perfect on a drizzly day, tuk-tuk came on the ferry to silk island. I bought several silk scarves as gifts for friends and family to support local business.
We had a wonderful time. Not only the silk factory but all the other unexpected stops which were all interesting and thought provoking. Lee, our guide, was excellent. Very informative and with very good English. It felt like a personal tour just for us. Driving in the countryside in a tuk tuk and passing through small villages allowed us to see the “real” Cambodia. It was a fascination glimpse into local village life.

Lee est un guide compétent, pedagogique et très attentionné. Cette demi journée était passionnante et très agréable. nous avons appris comment se fait la soie dans un établissement familial qui cultive les vers a soie depuis plusieurs générations . Ensuite nnous sommes allés dans une ferme où l'on fabrique du tofu croquant. Magnifique. Meme si ce métier est dur pour ceux qui le pratiquent. nous avons découvert des vaches aux longues oreilles que nous bâtis jamais vu. il reste l'ambiance : tres chaleureuse, a kaw découverte de la cuisine dex rue . notamment une caille rôtie . et des fruits devi
