Phnom Penh's Royal Palace has been the residence of the Cambodian king since 1866 and is still lived in, so the royal apartments are closed and the Throne Hall is seen from outside. The Silver Pagoda in the same compound takes its name from the five thousand silver tiles of its floor, most now covered to protect them, and holds a Buddha of 90 kilograms of gold set with over two thousand diamonds. The palace enforces a dress code at the gate: shoulders and knees covered for everyone. The National Museum next door has the best Khmer sculpture anywhere, and it closes for lunch.

This tour was absolutely unforgettable and honestly felt like stepping into a real-life Indiana Jones movie. Your visit to Siem Reap would never be complete without this. It was an excellent museum with a vast amount of well-preserved relics and exhibitions. I highly recommend renting a guiding device. Stating from #1, you can increase and deepen your knowledge and understanding about the Khmer empire and its culture and religion. Take you time. It took me more than 3 hours to go around. 100%satisfied.
Incredible collection of statuary- but it’s the information boards on the walls that brings it all together. We think we will visit twice.

Le musée est très intéressant, que ce soit pour approfondir ses connaissances après la visite des temples, comme nous l’avons fait, ou pour se préparer avant leur découverte. Pour nous, la visite a duré entre 1h30 et 2 heures avec l’audioguide, qui n’est pas inclus dans le billet et coûte 5 dollars supplémentaires.
Once purchased you will be sent your ticket separately (it’s not immediate). I sent them a message as I was going straight to the museum and got my ticket a few minutes later. The audio guide was an extra $5 when I arrived.
