Full description
This is a 2-day experience from Siem Reap, built around Sun rise small tour and Sun set big tour. It is run by Siem Reap Experiences, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Angkor Wat was built in the first half of the 12th century by Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple to Vishnu, later turned to Buddhist use, and it is the largest religious monument on earth at roughly 162 hectares inside its moat. Unlike almost every other Khmer temple it faces west. The outer gallery carries about 600 metres of bas-relief, including the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, and the central towers represent Mount Meru. The upper level has a dress code that is actually enforced: shoulders and knees covered, no vests, or you are turned back at the stairs. An Angkor Pass is required and costs USD 37 for one day, 62 for three and 72 for seven, sold only through Angkor Enterprise; under-12s are free on a passport.

Luckily day 1 sunrise we had a dry day. Sary Vin out Guide got us into the front row for a perfect picture, then again for the sunrise behind the tower. His English was great and he had detailed historical, architectural and logistical knowledge about all the temples. Day 2 sadly was tropical rain - impressive deluge but not great for tourism! He was very clear as a private tour we could change the itinerary so he selected the best temples to view. Transport was clean reliable. They supplied cold water throughout, hand towels. We had Mr John for day 1 of the trip and Sam for day 2 of the trip. Both were excellent guides where they combined humor with historical stories and knowledge. Both days went very smooth and we got to see all temples as planned. Both days have food breaks at a nice restaurant within the Angkor complex. You get several bottles of water throughout the days, and they give umbrellas in case of rain.
Everything was perfect, the tour is really interesting and the guide Sok was perfect, fun and very entertaining!
