Full description
This is an 8-hour experience from Siem Reap, built around South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon and Baphuon. It is run by Angkor Buddy, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Angkor Wat was built in the first half of the 12th century by Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple to Vishnu, later turned to Buddhist use, and it is the largest religious monument on earth at roughly 162 hectares inside its moat. Unlike almost every other Khmer temple it faces west. The outer gallery carries about 600 metres of bas-relief, including the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, and the central towers represent Mount Meru. The upper level has a dress code that is actually enforced: shoulders and knees covered, no vests, or you are turned back at the stairs. An Angkor Pass is required and costs USD 37 for one day, 62 for three and 72 for seven, sold only through Angkor Enterprise; under-12s are free on a passport.

Two days is the minimun for Agkor Temples to have a full view of the art. I would suggest to take a look to the Siem Reap Historical Museum before starting your vist, it is no a waste of time! You got an explication what you are looking next in Temples. It is a wide and extensive view of the Angkor Temples in Siem Reap. It is a long walking tour for the first day in the Small circuit, less tiring the second day as there are many transfert for the Great Circuit. The sky was little cloudy for sunset in this case it is not worth to climb the hill for...we do not see anything. Surise it is gorgeus
Phat was a fantastic guide, extremely knowledgeable about not just Angkor but about Siem Reap and Cambodian history generally. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day, and feel we made the best use of the limited time we had to see and learn as much as possible. Great day with Buth. Everything went smoothly from 5am pickup to 12pm dropoff. He shared a lot of interesting information about the site, from history to design to restoration. And his pacing was excellent, it felt like we stayed a step ahead of the biggest crowds. Sunrise was extremely crowded (possibly due to a festival today) so we would probably choose to skip that. We saw four main sites and he gave us some useful tips for how to spend our remaining time here. Would recommend.
