A full-day trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap, Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm Temple. The price covers Inclusions, Hotel pickup and drop-off and Drinking Water. It does not cover exclusion, travel insurance and temple tickets, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. Angkor Wat was built in the first half of the 12th century by Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple to Vishnu, later turned to Buddhist use, and it is the largest religious monument on earth at roughly 162 hectares inside its moat. Unlike almost every other Khmer temple it faces west. The outer gallery carries about 600 metres of bas-relief, including the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, and the central towers represent Mount Meru. The upper level has a dress code that is actually enforced: shoulders and knees covered, no vests, or you are turned back at the stairs. An Angkor Pass is required and costs USD 37 for one day, 62 for three and 72 for seven, sold only through Angkor Enterprise; under-12s are free on a passport. The price steps with party size rather than multiplying: 1 traveller is $59, 5 is $228 and 8 is $364. You are quoted the total for your party, not a per-head rate. Bayontabi tour runs it. Chuop and the driver both provided me with an excellent tour of the main temples in Angkor Wat. Choup was full of background knowledge of the sites visited and was also happy to answer questions and chat about more general aspects of life in Cambodia. I was also given some time to wander around by myself and soak in the stunning scenery around me. We did a private three temple-tour with Don and enjoyed every second of it. He is very friendly, knows a lot about the history of the Angkor Wat complex and speaks English very well. We got some nice extras from the driver as well, such as cooled water and cooled towels (which came in super handy, cause it can get quite hot in the morning!).
Our guide Dan was excellent and our driver “boss” delivered the aircon and cold towels as needed. A great day.
We took a private day tour with Mr Thom San. He was very informative and passionate about Angkor Wat and Khmer history. We had a very fun day and felt well taken care of. We were provided with excellent transport, cool water, and wet towels to refresh ourselves with. The tour is great value as it adds a lot of context and interesting stories to your visit. Man spürte seine Leidenschaft für die Geschichte der Khmer und er hat die Führung spannend gestaltet - auch für die Kinder (8 und 11 Jahre alt).
