Apsara dance takes its name and its poses from the celestial dancers carved in their thousands on the Angkor walls, and the classical form was rebuilt after the Khmer Rouge years from the handful of teachers who survived. The hand positions are a fixed vocabulary, each one a meaning, and a trained dancer's fingers bend back further than looks possible because the training starts in childhood. Most Siem Reap shows come with a buffet; the serious performances are shorter and ticketed on their own. Phare, the Cambodian circus, is a different thing altogether, a school in Battambang that takes children from hard backgrounds and stages modern acrobatic theatre about Cambodian life.

The price covers Pick-up and drop-off from your hotel by tuk tuk, International Buffet Dinner and Apsara Traditional Dance.
