A half-day trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Battambang. The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off, Tuk-Tuk driver/local guide and Drinking water. It does not cover bamboo train ticket ($5 per person), so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. Battambang is Cambodia's second city and the calmest of them, a riverside town of French shophouses about three hours from Siem Reap. The bamboo train, the norry, is a bamboo platform on wheels driven by a small motor down a single track; when two meet, the lighter one is lifted off the rails by hand. The original line at O Dambong was replaced by a purpose-built tourist track at Banan. At dusk, millions of wrinkle-lipped bats stream out of a cliff cave at Phnom Sampeau for about half an hour in an unbroken ribbon, and the same hill carries a killing-cave memorial from the Khmer Rouge years. Priced per person at about $16 each, so a party of 8 comes to $125. The price you see on this page is the total for the party size you pick, not a per-head figure to multiply. Mr Cake Taxi Cambodia runs it. We book with them directly, so the guide who meets you works for the operator rather than for a reseller.
