Full description
This is an 8-hour experience from Siem Reap, built around Lok Ta Dambong Kra Nhoung Shrine, Samrong Knong Killing Field and Bamboo Train Battambang. It is run by Adventure Travel Co., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Battambang is Cambodia's second city and the calmest of them, a riverside town of French shophouses about three hours from Siem Reap. The bamboo train, the norry, is a bamboo platform on wheels driven by a small motor down a single track; when two meet, the lighter one is lifted off the rails by hand. The original line at O Dambong was replaced by a purpose-built tourist track at Banan. At dusk, millions of wrinkle-lipped bats stream out of a cliff cave at Phnom Sampeau for about half an hour in an unbroken ribbon, and the same hill carries a killing-cave memorial from the Khmer Rouge years.

Lucky was an excellent guide, the description of the vehicle being business class is absolutely correct. we were driven at a good pace, the bamboo train was great fun. The bats were amazing. We had a very enjoyable trip.
We were very happy with Lucky as a driver and a guide. Definitely a good solution if you intend visiting battambang but don’t have enough days for staying over. Fresh and deep-fried rolls were the best tried in cambodia, with handmade rice papers. Loved also the bat cave and the killing fields visit. Lowlight of the day was the bamboo train, felt very touristic and i would have skipped if i had to go again. Again, bug bonus star for Lucky, he was amazing.
A great, very full-on day. We were picked up at 8:30am from Siem Reap and returned around 9:30pm. The journey was about three hours each way, but Lucky’s vehicle was amazing – the seats were like armchairs with leg rests and even a massage function, which made the trip very comfortable. Although it wasn’t advertised as a private tour, it ended up being just the two of us, which was a lovely bonus. We saw everything on the itinerary and also visited a family making banana chips and rice paper. We were able to try both and there was no pressure to buy anything. The timing was perfect to watch th
Lucky was a fabulous guide and his luxury vehicle was like travelling business class! He will go at your pace and you can add or skip things along the way. We found the variety of activities a great mix - highlights were the bamboo train and the bats flying out of the cave. Good to get away from the more touristy areas too. Highly recommend.
"Highly recommend this private tour with Lucky! We had a spacious seven-seater van for just three people, making the 3-hour drive from Siem Reap very comfortable. Lucky was punctual, knowledgeable, and his English is great. He even made an impromptu stop at a local market for us. The highlight was definitely the Bat Cave. Despite a delay at the Bamboo Train, Lucky timed our arrival perfectly so we could see the spectacular sight of thousands of bats flying out at dusk. He got us back to Siem Reap safely and we couldn't be happier with his service!"

Lucky was great from start to finish. It’s a long day but more than doable. Lucky’s van was so comfortable and spacious, he provided fresh water throughout the day and even added a few activities such as trying local fruit because the bats were to be coming out a little later than usual. Lucky was informative and provided us information about where we were going and what we were seeing. 10/10 recommend this trip to see Battambang in one day and especially with Lucky. Thank you!
