Full description
A full-day trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap. The price covers Hotel Pickup and drop-off, English-Speaking Tour Guide and Transportation by Air-Conditioned Vehicle. It does not cover all visiting entrance fees, meals and personal expense, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month. This one is priced for the group rather than per head: 1 traveller costs $163 and 8 costs $163, so the more of you there are the less each of you pays. Angkor Visitor Tour runs it. We book with them directly, so the guide who meets you works for the operator rather than for a reseller.
