Full description
This is a 3-hour experience in Siem Reap. It is run by Beyond. Unique Escapes, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Khmer food is milder than Thai and sourer than Vietnamese, built on prahok fermented fish paste and on kroeung, a lemongrass, galangal, turmeric and kaffir-lime paste pounded fresh. The dish everyone is taught is fish amok, a coconut curry steamed in a banana-leaf cup until it sets like a custard; lok lak, pepper-seared beef with a lime-and-pepper dipping sauce, is the other. Kampot pepper, which has a protected origin, turns up in both. Classes usually start in a market, where the guide walks you through the fermented fish, the palm sugar and the river fish before anything is cooked.

They showed us the market as well. Their english speaking was very good. We understood everything. They prepared all ingridients for the cooking, so the cokking was easier for us. We created 4 course of cambodian speciality but we could chose from 2-3 options for every course. Thank you Sivorn to introduced your traditional cuisine to us! I recommend it to everyone. Such a great activity! Tear and King Kong were so great and very informative. You get a cooking guide at the end of it all sent to you on WhatsApp. Such delicious food and such a beautiful place. Would definitely recommend.

Mr. Kong war ein herausragender und sympathischer Kochlehrer. Wir waren zu zweit und durften uns jeweils 4 Gerichte aussuchen. Das Essen wurde sehr lecker. Während dem Kochen machte Mr. Kong Fotos von uns und den Gerichten, die er uns anschließend zusammen mit den Rezepten zugesandt hat. Vielen Dank.
