Full description
A half-day trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap, Local restaurant, Made in Cambodia Market and Num Banh Chok. There are 6 stops altogether, so it fills the day rather than leaving long gaps between two or three highlights. The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off, Tour transportation and Guide. It does not cover personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. Khmer food is milder than Thai and sourer than Vietnamese, built on prahok fermented fish paste and on kroeung, a lemongrass, galangal, turmeric and kaffir-lime paste pounded fresh. The dish everyone is taught is fish amok, a coconut curry steamed in a banana-leaf cup until it sets like a custard; lok lak, pepper-seared beef with a lime-and-pepper dipping sauce, is the other. Kampot pepper, which has a protected origin, turns up in both. Classes usually start in a market, where the guide walks you through the fermented fish, the palm sugar and the river fish before anything is cooked. The price steps with party size rather than multiplying: 1 traveller is $59, 5 is $228 and 8 is $364. You are quoted the total for your party, not a per-head rate. Siem Reaper Travel runs it. We book with them directly, so the guide who meets you works for the operator rather than for a reseller.

I was the only guest on this tour, which made it even better. My guide, Ron, was excellent. He knew a lot about all the dishes, and I really liked being able to talk to him about the city and Cambodia in general. The food is served at local restaurants and so good. You won‘t regret joining this tour.
Mr. Vady was a great Tour guide and host. He is very genuine and friendly! The food places/options could have been more divers, as it was mostly noodle dishes and barely meat. Overall a great experience!
Our guide Son and driver was very good, lots of great knowledge about Cambodia and its food. We tried so many different types of food, some we hadn’t seen on menus in other restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the city, trying new foods and spending time with Son :)
The tour was awesome! Rode around with our guide Ron Burgendy or Weasley depending on the moment, he was funny and had lots of knowledge of the food and history of Cambodia. Very passionate. The food was outstanding and we tried the bugs at the end. Overall fantastic experience would highly recommend doing this while in Siem reap!!
great tour with Vandy. We visited several food places and tried all the dishes. finished the tour full up and had several beers. we stopped at a hand made craft market which was interesting and bought some bugs to eat wiyh our beer! All round great experience

We very much enjoyed our tour. Ron explained the different foods to us, what they were and the regions they came from. We sampled red and Green curries, herby spring rolls, some noodles (sorry I can’t be more specific but I can’t remember what they were all called!). Ron took us to a night street market where we bought some deep fried bugs ( crickets, grasshoppers, frogs and silk worm larvae) [optional!] and local fruits which we then went to a bar and ate alongside a lovely cold local beer.
