A 1-hour trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap, Ro Lus Market, Kampong Phluk and Tonlé Sap. There are 5 stops altogether, so it fills the day rather than leaving long gaps between two or three highlights. The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off, Transportation by air-conditioned minivan/minibus and Professional English-speaking guide. It does not cover personal expense, rowing boat to mangrove forest - $5.50 u and meal & alchohol, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month. Priced per person at about $30 each, so a party of 8 comes to $242. The price you see on this page is the total for the party size you pick, not a per-head figure to multiply. Wadi Rum Fire Camp runs it. We book with them directly, so the guide who meets you works for the operator rather than for a reseller.

Amazing boat trip through the floating village and then a visit to a floating restaurant further out in the lake to have dinner and watch the sunset. Guide was great, kept the pace and was very knowledgeable. the village people were so friendly.

The guide was able to give facts about village life and speaks English well, extremely nice and knowledgeable and you will leave the experience a better person. traveled to the island in a tiny boat. Houses on stilts can be seen along the route. Just spent some time strolling around the island. The fact that the children receive free English instruction is encouraging. Really old bus and almost not a functional air conditioner. Guide Nan was great .
The activity could be done in much less time . It felt like it was stretched out in order be taken places in order to spend time at various floating cafes. It would have also been nice to learn more about the people and the culture that live in the floating village. I am certainly glad I did it and I would certainly recommend this for parents - especially of teenagers to learn more about how other families live. There are Also schools and a library if you wish to donate books and pencils.
