A half-day trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap and Kampong Phluk. The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off, Live tour guide and Cold towels. It does not cover kampong phluk ticket, meals (b/l/d) and personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month. I loved this tour of the Tonle Sap lake and highly recommend Angkor Guide-Sarak as a guide. He is very knowlegeable about Cambodia generally, speaks perfect English is helpful and made the tour of the fishing village very interesting.
