A 3-hour trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap, River boat and Tonlé SapVan. The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off, Processional Local Tour Guide and Air-conditioned vehicle. It does not cover meals and beverages, travel insurance and tips, so budget for those separately. The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month. The price steps with party size rather than multiplying: 2 travellers is $172, 5 is $319 and 8 is $333. You are quoted the total for your party, not a per-head rate.
