A 2.5-hour trip from Siem Reap that visits Siem Reap Province and Transfer. The price covers Professional English Tour Guide, Private air-conditioned vehicle and Pickup and drop off. It does not cover boat ticket, food and coffee/beer, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month. The price steps with party size rather than multiplying: 1 traveller is $65, 4 is $104 and 7 is $182. You are quoted the total for your party, not a per-head rate. Happy Angkor Tour Cambodia runs it. An amazing tour. The guide spoke excellent English and taught me a lot about Cambodian history, and was very informative and warm. He is a very kind, friendly and genuine man. The car is very nice and he gave me a water. I really enjoyed this private tour and I cannot recommend it more! It was really cool to see the floating village and its economy up close, and you get a depth that you would not get if you did a shared tour.
It was a very pleasant half day tour that included a visit to the fishermen’s village and lake and a short stop at a small crocodile farm. We were offered an additional trip in between the mangroves, that we decided to skip. The guide was friendly and talkative and really tried to show us the local life and culture. The driver was punctual and very careful.
Very knowledgeable local guide, friendly and open minded. He answered all our questions in really good English. It was fun for us to learn from him about Cambodia and Siem Reap area in a very small private group. We can only recommend. The way to and the floating village itself was an experience and adventure for me as somebody who lives in western Europe. Particularly, in the dry season you can see the hard life the people on the country side are still facing over here.
I highly recommend this trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the village itself but also the rich history and culture of Cambodia. Beautiful scenery and great insight into the lives of those who live in the village. Overall great addition to our trip.
The activity was good, but the whole place seems very staged and felt like a theme park at times, especially after visiting a different floating village which was much more authentic, the boat ride shorter than expected, went to floating restaurant on the lake with Crocodiles. That said the guide and driver were both excellent. only advice boat costs 22dollar PP not the 10 previously advertised on the booking. it was a nice trip out of the city.
Our guide was friendly, punctual, and very knowledgeable about the region, the country, its people, and Cambodia in general. As we had booked a private tour, we could adapt the itinerary slightly to our needs. Kampong Phluk fishing village and the impressive Tonle Sap Lake are definitely worth seeing. However, the tour followed a strict schedule and often felt like being driven from one place to another mainly to spend money (shops, restaurants, donations). Er war ein sehr aufmerksamer Guide. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir waren zu zweit und hatten bewusst die private Tour gebucht. Es sehr empfehlenswert diese private Tour zu buchen, da man viel mehr Einblicke und Informationen erhält. Das Ticket für die Bootstour kostet p.P 20,00 Dollar. Onze gids, Phally was erg goed. Sprak goed Engels en legde alles goed uit. Het dorp is erg bijzonder. Omdat het water peil laag is kunnen wij er door heen lopen. In het regenseizoen ga je met de boot door het dorp. Een excursie die je zeker niet mag missen!
