Full description
This is a 6-hour experience from Siem Reap, built around River boat. It is run by Cambodia Adventure Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month.

It was a great experience! For someone who likes a less turist more authentic experience is perfect. I love kayaking. so, it was a nice way to explore the floating villages in a sporty, slow way. My guide Daral was very generous with the explanations and he seemed very enthusiastic explaining not only about the floating villages but about the area and about some temples. Which was appreciated. I recommend sandals easy to remove over bulky shoes. And sunscreen.
loved the tour ! lots of insights into life of the floating village dwellers. Kayaking could be longer ( was only 45 min) and I would love an overnight stay in the village . Anyway - an awesome tour.

it was a short section, i think we only kayak for 45mins, there was no instruction of what we are doing, guide didn't speak a word of English. 4hrs commute and we didn't get a chance to see the sunset. No explanation on the floating village. quite disappointed
C'était superbe! Nous avons été en bateau pour récupérer les kayaks qui nous ont suivis jusqu'à la forêt de mangrove. Là , c'était magnifique : le soleil dans les branchages, le calme, ... sur le retour, le bateau est tombé en panne d'essence, ce qui nous a permis d'assister au coucher du soleil sur le Tonle Sap. Nous avons eu droit à une boisson fraîche et une viennoiserie offerte par notre guide Sovandy.
