Full description
This is an experience from Siem Reap, built around Kompong Khleang Floating Village. It is run by Tara Riverboat, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month.

Excursion complète et très intéressante en allant explorer le lac Tonlé Sap et le village flottant de Kompong Khleang. Plusieurs arrêts sont proposés par le guide pour voir les marchés et spécialités locales sur le trajet de l’hôtel jusqu’au lac. Nous sommes bien accompagnés à toutes les étapes avec un guide très agréable
Conforme à l’annonce. Chauffeur prudent, voiture très bien avec confort (eau fraîche et petites serviettes rafraîchissantes) Stop à un petit marché Guide sympa, moment agréable pour la distribution des cahiers aux enfants. Balade en bateau jusqu’au lac Déjeuner dans un endroit calme pour clôturer avant le retour.
Entspannter und authentischer Ausflug. Guide und Fahrer freundlich, kompetent und flexibel. Wir wurden direkt vom Hotel abgeholt. Besonderheiten: An einem Straßenstand wurde uns gezeigt wie sticky rice in bamboo zubereitet wird. Wir hatten ein Boot für uns alleine (2 Personen). Wenig Touristen. Sehr schön war auch die Verteilung der Schulhefte an die Kinder. Nettes Restaurant zum Schluss. Ein wirklich gelungener Ausflug!

Awesome experience. Was not a small group as stated being capped at 11 pax as our private group of 15 still had 2 other pax onboard. Crocodile farm was interesting and well-stocked with crocodiles big and small. The sticky rice stopover was a cute treat. The dried fish displays were interesting albeit overwhelming in aroma. The local market walkabout was a little overwhelming for kids. The local school CSR activity was not done at the floating school but another site onground.
