Full description
A full-day trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap, Preah Dak, Phnom Kulen National Park and 1000 Lingas. There are 8 stops altogether, so it fills the day rather than leaving long gaps between two or three highlights. The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off, Transportation by A/C car or minivan and Professional English speaking tour guide. It does not cover kulen mountain pass: us$20 per person, beng mealea pass: us$10 per person (vali and tonle sap lake pass with a boat ride: us, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month. Priced per person at about $64 each, so a party of 8 comes to $510. The price you see on this page is the total for the party size you pick, not a per-head figure to multiply. ASEAN ANGKOR GUIDE runs it. We book with them directly, so the guide who meets you works for the operator rather than for a reseller.

Our guide, Mr Sortin, was just terrific. He told us everything we needed to know and was more than happy to answer any questions. He had a very diverse group of guests and coped really well. The diversity of the trip in terms of where we visited and what we saw and experienced was 100% great. It gave you a really good sense of what lies beyond Siem Reap centre and the temples.
