Morning Temple, Market and Countryside Bike Tour with Lunch
Full description
A half-day trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap, Banteay Chey Market and Phnom Krom. The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off by tuk-tuk, Licensed professional tour guide and Visit to a local market. It does not cover local food tasting, blessing donations and shopping, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. The countryside immediately around Siem Reap is rice paddy, sugar-palm trees and villages that are five minutes off the temple road and rarely seen by people doing the circuits. The sugar palm is the national tree and its sap is tapped from the crown by men who climb a notched pole twice a day, boiled down to the palm sugar used in every Khmer kitchen. The rice year sets everything: transplanting in the wet months, the fields green through the rains, harvest around November and December, then dry stubble and dust. Late afternoon is when the light works and when the villages are out, so most of these rides run to sunset. Priced per person at about $29 each, so a party of 6 comes to $172. The price you see on this page is the total for the party size you pick, not a per-head figure to multiply. Countryside Sunset Bike Tours runs it. We book with them directly, so the guide who meets you works for the operator rather than for a reseller.

Traveler Reviews
The tour was absolutely amazing! It was even better than we expected. We got to visit a local market, a beautiful temple with monks, and a lotus farm, while also trying some delicious local food. The lunch at the end was especially delicious! The bike ride was easy, relaxing, and really enjoyable, and we loved getting to discover the local way of life. Everyone we met was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend this tour! It’s a wonderful way to discover the area, experience the local culture, and it’s absolutely worth the price.
This was a great tour to see the countryside, early local market and Temple. The big plus was that the cycle part of the tour commenced from the tour base in the country. No need to bike through the traffic in town. My guide Sayoeun was first class and very informative. Once the cycling was finished I was treated to a nice lunch by Sam and his team. Sam uses the funds from the tour to run a village English language school for 6 year olds, definitely something to support. Totally recommend this to anyone wanting a safe and relaxing tour in the countryside.
An amazing morning tour through the daily market, the Buddhist Temple, and a peaceful and serene village experience! Great opportunity to escape the scripted tour and learn more about the daily lives of the local people. Highly recommended!!
This tour was a surprise highlight of Siem Reap. Sokpee was a memorable guide, and explained how the morning market operates (aha! It explained a few things!). This includes having dessert after breakfast. Excellent idea! We also visited the nearby monastery before getting on our retro bikes for a cruise around the countryside. Make sure you stop for a fried banana! Sokpee is knowledgeable and friendly and happily answered all my questions. And be sure to allow time (and space!) for an excellent home made lunch afterwards!
