This is a 1-day experience from Siem Reap, built around Angkor Wat, Tonle Om Gate (Southern Gate) and Bayon Temple. Angkor Wat was built in the first half of the 12th century by Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple to Vishnu, later turned to Buddhist use, and it is the largest religious monument on earth at roughly 162 hectares inside its moat. Unlike almost every other Khmer temple it faces west. The outer gallery carries about 600 metres of bas-relief, including the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, and the central towers represent Mount Meru. The upper level has a dress code that is actually enforced: shoulders and knees covered, no vests, or you are turned back at the stairs. An Angkor Pass is required and costs USD 37 for one day, 62 for three and 72 for seven, sold only through Angkor Enterprise; under-12s are free on a passport.

We toured 3 temples. I asked to have a little break for an early lunch and tea. My guide and driver were very easy to accommodate. The driver was attentive and I felt safe getting to the 3 destinations. My guide Phanit was very knowledgeable in the history of the 3 temples (kind of like a walking encyclopedia/historical scholar!) He also was willing to take any photos I asked. The overall the experience was great from pickup to finish. Would do this tour again.
Mr. Tong, our guide, was extremely helpful, professional, knowledgeable, efficient and polite. He picked us up sharp on time from our hotel, took us to a place from where we could have a great view and click good photos of the mesmerizing sunrise at Angkor Wat. He very efficiently first told us the history about a spot where we are going and then took us there, so everything became very clear. He told us history about Cambodia, it's culture, and it's rich architecture influences. He showed blueprints and maps of the complex and the whole experience was a perfect blend of learning and tourism.
