Khmer food is milder than Thai and sourer than Vietnamese, built on prahok fermented fish paste and on kroeung, a lemongrass, galangal, turmeric and kaffir-lime paste pounded fresh. The dish everyone is taught is fish amok, a coconut curry steamed in a banana-leaf cup until it sets like a custard; lok lak, pepper-seared beef with a lime-and-pepper dipping sauce, is the other. Kampot pepper, which has a protected origin, turns up in both. Classes usually start in a market, where the guide walks you through the fermented fish, the palm sugar and the river fish before anything is cooked.

This tour is very worth the buck and our tour guide Bopha is very knowledgeable and friendly which made the tour perfect
I enjoyed this tour. The best aspects of it were getting to ride on the back of the Vespa of my wonderful guide, Ravy, who was very attentive to my needs and taught me some of the Khmer language and culture. I also enjoyed the market trip. Although the food was good, I wish that there had been at least one dish featured that was well-known in Khmer cuisine, to make it better value for money. But all in all, it was a good experience.
The tour guide and driver were excellent. Joey the guide was very informative, her knowledge of Cambodian cuisine was commendable, as well of her knowledge of Cambodian culture generally. Her level of English commentary was at an excellent level. I would highly recommend this tour.
Our afternoon and evening with Ms Joey and Mr So was fantastic. We shared terrific authentic local food whilst also trading stories and life experiences. If you have a spare afternoon in Siem Reap we would highly recommend this tour.

Tour was well structured and had a good variety of dishes. Our tour guide Ravy was excellent and knowledgeable about the food and the locations.
A wide variety of authentic Cambodian food to eat at different local restaurants. Our guide also explained how each dish is prepared. Nice pick~up as well.
Soline was an excellent guide. Tried lots of different foods including insects. Went to the wooden house in Siem reap would never had found this. Thanks for a great night
