This is a 3-hour experience in Siem Reap, built around Siem Reap, Made in Cambodia Market and ភូមិនំបញ្ចុក Phum Num Banh Chok. It is run by ASEAN ANGKOR GUIDE, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Khmer food is milder than Thai and sourer than Vietnamese, built on prahok fermented fish paste and on kroeung, a lemongrass, galangal, turmeric and kaffir-lime paste pounded fresh. The dish everyone is taught is fish amok, a coconut curry steamed in a banana-leaf cup until it sets like a custard; lok lak, pepper-seared beef with a lime-and-pepper dipping sauce, is the other. Kampot pepper, which has a protected origin, turns up in both. Classes usually start in a market, where the guide walks you through the fermented fish, the palm sugar and the river fish before anything is cooked.

our guide Sartha was a great guide on this foody tour. she was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and took time to explain the culture of the foods we were going to eat and including the ingredients and also how to eat them. We had so many lovely dishes and each were delicious in their own individual ways so I simply could not pick a favourite. we ended the nite with a cool beer and hand crafted gin plus Cambodian deserts and insects which I really liked. This tour was the absolute best. Sarath is hilarious and knows so much, will answer any question you throw at her, and made our night a complete joy. Our driver was also a delight. All the dishes and locations were terrific, and I felt like we got to try a wide variety and really experience the city. No notes, would recommend to anybody with a curious mind and palate.
excellent value for money. you get so much food so think twice about eating before you start! our guide August was passionate about Cambodia, not just food but history culture and ways to help the country and it's people be successful. Our amazing guide, Manith (Need), was knowledgeable and fun. Can't believe I ate frog! It was great to try the local eating places. Definitely recommend this tour. The tuk tuk was fun way to get around and the food was well- prepared and delicious. (Lots of different things to try- even for those less adventurous)

This tour was a great introduction to the area. Sarath was a great and friendly tour guide who explained all the food and how they make the dishes. She was able to explain where the dishes come from, how they are grown and how the locals like to eat it. She was fun and knowledgeable and easy to talk to talk with. We visited 7 different places and had so much amazing food. 10/10 I would recommend booking with her.
