Full description
A full-day trip from Siem Reap that visits Krong Siem Reap, Bus/coach, Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor Wat. There are 7 stops altogether, so it fills the day rather than leaving long gaps between two or three highlights. The price covers Hotel pick-up and drop off, English-speaking guide and Air-conditioned minivan or coach. It does not cover meals and angkor pass ($37 for 1 day), so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price. Angkor Wat was built in the first half of the 12th century by Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple to Vishnu, later turned to Buddhist use, and it is the largest religious monument on earth at roughly 162 hectares inside its moat. Unlike almost every other Khmer temple it faces west. The outer gallery carries about 600 metres of bas-relief, including the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, and the central towers represent Mount Meru. The upper level has a dress code that is actually enforced: shoulders and knees covered, no vests, or you are turned back at the stairs. An Angkor Pass is required and costs USD 37 for one day, 62 for three and 72 for seven, sold only through Angkor Enterprise; under-12s are free on a passport. Priced per person at about $14 each, so a party of 6 comes to $86. The price you see on this page is the total for the party size you pick, not a per-head figure to multiply. Journey Cambodia runs it. We book with them directly, so the guide who meets you works for the operator rather than for a reseller.

The pace of the tour was good. The guide Sok was knowledgeable and stopped often for picture taking opportunities. Sok was also great at offering to take photos, organizing the crowds to allow each of us to take photos in turn.

We had an excellent day with Vone. He was so funny and knowledgeable and kept everything to time as best as he could so we could fully experience each temple. I don’t think we would have enjoyed the tour as much with a different driver. Overall, very wonderful experience!
