This is an 8-hour experience from Siem Reap, built around Phnom Kulen National Park, Poeng Ta Kho (Amazing Cliff) and Wat Preah Ang Thom. It is run by Pitt Angkor Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Phnom Kulen is the sandstone plateau the Angkor temples were quarried from and the place where Jayavarman II declared himself universal monarch in 802, which is the founding date Cambodians give their empire. The road up is steep and the site carries its own USD 20 entry, separate from the Angkor Pass. At the top are the two-tier waterfall people swim under, the river bed carved with lingas at Kbal Spean's larger cousin, and a reclining Buddha cut into a boulder at the summit pagoda, reached barefoot. It is a full day from Siem Reap and best in or just after the rains, when the falls actually run.
