Full description
This is a 4-hour experience from Siem Reap, built around Kampong Phluk, River boat and Tonlé SapVan. It is run by Journey Cambodia, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
The Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and it reverses direction twice a year: in the monsoon the Mekong pushes water back up the Tonle Sap river and the lake swells several times over, then drains again from about November. The villages on it live with that. Kampong Phluk's stilt houses stand six to ten metres up on their legs, dry underneath in March and wading depth in October; Kampong Khleang is larger, further out and far less visited; Chong Kneas is closest to Siem Reap and the most touristed. Which village works, and whether the boat can reach the flooded forest at all, depends entirely on the month.
The price covers English-speaking guide, Air-con vehicle, Hotel pickup and drop off, Boat cruise and Entrance free. It does not cover Rowboat at the mangrove forest, so budget for those separately. We had an excellent afternoon with Chhay who was our guide. The trip took us into the daily lives of local people and let us see the harder to reach aspects of their everyday struggles to survive and improve their lives including their community support. River ride, floating fishing village and flooded forest were all an experience not to be missed. Chhay was very knowledgeable and helpful. Driver was helpful, safe and kept us supplied with lovely cold wipes and water. Fantastic trip.
Sargon Pal was very nice, he explained a lot of interesting things. The tour was relaxing
全体的に満足しましたが、今回は年間で一番水量の少ない時期だったようで、見られるものや経験できることに多くの制限があったことがかなり残念でした（ツアー自体が悪いわけではありません）。ガイドさんと運転手さんはどちらもフレンドリーでとても良かったです。
Prestation correcte et personnels sympathiques, mais pourquoi parler de village sur pilotis et forêt inondée lorsqu’on ne peut accéder au village que l’on voit de l’extérieur et que les eaux basses de la saison laissent tranquille la forêt et que cette dernière n’est même pas évoquée …
So because I really wanted this tour and it was cheap, but the minimum people allowed was 2, I paid for two people because I wanted a private tour in particular. I didn't really want to spend much time with other people because I don't like compromising on my vacation. I was not too happy that when the guide showed up to pick me up, he told me that two other people will be joining us. Its still good value for money but because the transportation used is a tuk tuk, it's not suitable for more than two people in my mind.
