Begin your journey by taking the high-speed rail from Beijing to Datong South Station. Upon arrival, be picked up by a private vehicle and a short rest before sightseeing.
Yungang Grottoes
Enjoy a signature Datong sliced noodle set lunch with special braised dishes and cold side dishes. Then, visit Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore core scenic spots, including the Five Tan Yao Caves, and admire more than 50,000 exquisite Northern Wei stone statues.
Datong Ancient City
Return to Datong Ancient City, wander the core pedestrian street, and check in at landmark attractions, including Four Archways and Drum Tower. Drop by the Ming Dynasty Nine-Dragon Wall for exterior sightseeing and photography, appreciating the largest surviving glazed dragon wall in China.

Yingxian Wooden Pagoda
Depart from the ancient city hotel and drive directly to Yingxian County to visit the national treasure-level ancient architecture - Fogong Temple Sakyamuni Pagoda (Yingxian Wooden Pagoda). Admire the miraculous thousand-year-old pure wooden structure of the Liao Dynasty without any iron nails, visit the temple courtyard and the Buddha exhibition area on the first floor, and learn the top ancient wooden construction techniques.
Hanging Temple
Visit Hanging Temple, one of the world’s top ten breathtaking cliff constructions, a thousand-year-old cliff wooden temple integrating Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Purchase limited climbing tickets to walk on the cliff plank road at close range, or take full-view photos of the temple at the viewing platform to enjoy the unique integration of mountains, waters, and ancient architecture.
Drive back to Datong
Conclude the one-day tour of the wooden pagoda and Hanging Temple, drive back to Datong Ancient City, freely explore the night market, and stay at the ancient city hotel for the second night.
Shanhua Temple
In the morning, deeply visit Shanhua Temple, a well-preserved large-scale royal temple of the Liao and Jin dynasties. Check in at core ancient buildings such as Mahavira Hall, Three Saints Hall, and Samantabhadra Pavilion, admire exquisite Jin-dynasty clay sculptures and murals, and immerse yourself in the ancient charm of the thousand-year-old temple.
Huayan Temple

Back to Datong South High-Speed Rail Station
Finally, be transferred to Datong South High-Speed Rail Station. Take the high-speed rail back to Beijing independently, and conclude your 3-day tour.
