Ostbali ist die ruhigere Seite der Insel unter dem Mount Agung. Das Sidemen-Tal hat Reisterrassen ohne die Massen von Tegallalang und einen direkten Blick auf den Vulkan; Tirta Gangga ist ein Wasserpalast, den der letzte Raja von Karangasem 1946 baute, mit Trittsteinen ueber einem Karpfenteich; Taman Ujung ist der fruehere Palast derselben Familie von 1919 an der Kueste. Besakih, der Muttertempel, ist ein Komplex aus 23 Tempeln auf 1.000 Metern am Hang des Agung und erfordert einen Sarong und seit 2023 einen offiziellen Guide. Weiter die Kueste entlang hat Amed schwarze Sandstraende, und Tulamben hat die USAT Liberty, ein 1942 torpediertes Frachtschiff, das 1963 durch den Ausbruch des Agung ins Meer gedrueckt wurde, heute ein Wracktauch- und Schnorchelspot direkt vom Strand aus.
