Station.

Detaillierter Ablauf

Day 1, 06:45 / 07:45

Meet at Tochomae Station, Tokyo

Departure time depends on which option you book: 06:45 for the 8th station hut, 07:45 for the 7th station. The private coach leaves from central Tokyo.

Day 1, 08:30 / 09:45

Alternative meeting at Gotemba Station

Climbers already near the mountain can join at Gotemba instead, saving the Tokyo leg.

Day 1, late morning

FMG Base Camp Cafe

A stop for the safety briefing, fitting of any rented boots and shell layers, and buying snacks and water for the climb.

Day 1, midday

Subashiri 5th Station, 2,000m

The climb begins in forest, the feature that sets Subashiri apart from the busier Yoshida trail.

Day 1, afternoon

Above the tree line

The forest gives way to bare cinder and lava. Guides set a deliberately slow pace to help everyone acclimatise.

Day 1, evening

Arrive at the mountain hut

Miharashikan at 3,200m or the Fujisan Hotel at 3,400m. Bunk, bedding, sleeping bag and pillow are provided, and dinner is Japanese curry rice with a vegetarian option on request.

Day 2, pre-dawn

Wake-up call and headlamp start

The final push begins in darkness and cold. Allow about 1.5 hours from the 8th station hut, around 3 hours from the 7th.

Day 2, sunrise

Summit, 3,776m

Arrive on the crater rim for first light over the cloud sea, the reason for the pre-dawn start.

Day 2, after sunrise

Crater walk, weather permitting

If wind and visibility allow, the guides lead a circuit of the summit crater.

Day 2, morning

Breakfast and descent

Return to the hut for a hot breakfast, then descend to the 5th station on tired legs; the way down is long and hard on the knees.

Day 2, afternoon

Coach back and certificate

The private coach returns you to Gotemba or Tokyo. Summit certificates are issued to climbers who reached the top.

The price does not cover two lunches (purchasable at mountain huts en route), snacks, personal gear (rental available). Everything it does cover is listed in full on this page, so if something is not on that list, budget for it separately.
Expect uneven ground and some climbing, and mud after rain. Trainers with grip are the minimum and proper shoes are better. The pace follows the group, so tell your guide early if you want it slower rather than at the point you are struggling.

We confirm your booking with the operator before we treat it as final, and we need at least one day's notice outside India. Once it is confirmed you get the meeting point, the time and a contact number for the day. If the operator cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Only during the official season, roughly early July to early September — exact dates are announced each year per route. Outside it the mountain huts close, and climbing becomes a serious mountaineering proposition rather than a hike. A mandatory climbing fee and a daily cap now apply on the Yoshida route, with the other routes following. Full detail in our guide to climbing Mount Fuji.
Counterintuitively, winter — the cold, dry air gives the clearest views, while humid summer haze often hides the mountain entirely. That means the climbing season is also the worst viewing season. Where and when to look is covered in our Mount Fuji viewpoints guide.
An Odakyu pass covering the whole Hakone loop — Tozan railway, cable car, ropeway, Lake Ashi boats and buses — for less than buying the legs separately. How the loop works and which direction to travel it is in getting around Hakone.
It varies. Many traditional baths still refuse tattoos, some now allow them with cover stickers, and a private bath (kashikiri) is the reliable workaround. Bathing etiquette and how to find tattoo-friendly options are in our Hakone onsen guide.
It was listed in 2013 for its influence on art, literature and pilgrimage — not for its geology. That is why the listing includes places like Oshino Hakkai and the Sengen shrines, not just the peak itself. Background in our climbing Mount Fuji guide.
Two days lets you do the loop without rushing and still soak properly in an onsen — a single day works but means moving constantly. Our Hakone 2-day itinerary maps it out hour by hour.
Most Hakone and Mt. Fuji private tours here are priced for the whole party, not per traveller — the operator is providing a vehicle and a guide, so a group of four pays the same as a couple. The exceptions are the group summit climbs, which are genuinely per person. Each tour page states which model applies.
