Ein privater Ganztags-Landausflug in die Stadt hinter der Bucht, für Passagiere, die das Wasser schon gesehen haben.

Die meisten Kreuzfahrtanläufe in Halong setzen alle wieder auf ein Boot. Dieser geht in die andere Richtung, in die arbeitende Stadt von einigen hunderttausend Menschen, zu der der Pier gehört und die fast kein Besucher je sieht.

Das Museum von Quang Ninh ist der Grund dafür. Es ist ein schwarzer Glaskasten an der Uferpromenade vom spanischen Architekten Salvador Perez Arroyo, und die Fassade spiegelt die Bucht so vollständig, dass das Gebäude halb darin verschwindet. Innen reicht es von der Meeresgeologie der Region bis zur Geschichte des Kohlebergbaus, der diese Stadt tatsächlich gebaut hat, samt einem nachgebauten Grubenschacht.

Die Long-Tien-Pagode liegt am Fuß des Bai-Tho-Bergs und ist die größte der Stadt, gebaut im Jahrzehnt ab 1940 im Stil der älteren Tempel von Hanoi.

Die Märkte sind, wo Halong isst, zu einheimischen Preisen und nicht zu Pierpreisen, und die Show in der Drachenperlen-Höhle schließt den Tag: eine Aufführung in einer natürlichen Kalksteinhöhle, die die Legende vom herabsteigenden Drachen erzählt, von der die Bucht ihren Namen hat.

We had a private tour around Halong with Thomas and later dinner at the Dragon Pearl Cave. We spent time at the museum, local market and the temple. We had crab pho for lunch which we enjoyed and later yogurt with pearl boba which we equally enjoyed. Our original stay in Vietnam is booked for Hanoi. My family wanted to visit Halong and do a Halong bay cruise AND the Dragon Pearl Dinner. Instead of traveling twice to Halong from Hanoi, we opted to stay overnight in Halong. I'm so grateful that Katie could assist me in booking a one way transport from Hanoi so I could make our schedule work. The
