Hanoi ist tausend Jahre alt und zugleich eine französische Kolonialhauptstadt, beides auf einmal: die 36 Gassen der Altstadt, jede nach der Zunft benannt, die dort handelte, der See des zurückgegebenen Schwertes in ihrer Mitte, der Literaturtempel von 1070, das Mausoleum, in dem Ho Chi Minh aufgebahrt liegt (nur vormittags, montags und freitags geschlossen sowie zwei Monate im Herbst), und das baumbestandene französische Viertel mit seinen Villen und dem Opernhaus. Die Cafés der Train Street, wo die Bahn einen Meter neben den Tischen vorbeifährt, öffnen und schließen, je nachdem, wie die Behörden gerade entscheiden. Der Eierkaffee wurde hier 1946 erfunden, bun cha ist das Mittagessen, und das Wasserpuppentheater am See ist der Abend. Von Dezember bis Februar ist Hanoi kühl und grau, von Mai bis September heiß; Oktober und November sind die besten Monate.

The Tour was just awesome! Our drivers were very reliable and focused on keeping us safe and giving us the best experiences possible. Food and accommodations were way above our expectations and the landscape was simply beautiful. Solo female traveler. The best thing I did in Vietnam. I felt very safe. The only thing is I did the two day trip and you get back to hanoi at 3 am in the morning which is a bit annoying.
The motorbike tour around the Ha Giang loop was one of my favorite experiences in Vietnam. Our guide Sun, who was also my easy rider, shared many interesting facts about the landscape and local life in Ha Giang. He was always supportive, answered all questions and made sure that everyone in the group had a great time. I felt very save on the back of his bike as he was driving very responsibly. We also had a great time with our group (8 people) in the evenings with some games and karaoke without beeing extremely party-/alcohol-focused. We had the best experience doing the Ha Giang Loop. Our turguide Sy was very professional and friendly and was good at explaining and organizing the trip. Our drivers Lyon and Tom was also very professional and made us feel comfortable. They drove safely and treated us very well. The group became like a big family and we had so much fun together! The home stays and the food was also very nice! Would very much recommend to do this tour, we are super happy and are left with so good memories and new friendships.
One of the best experiences of my life! We went on the Ha Giang Loop with Chestnut Travel in a group of 5 and I was lucky to have Sỹ as my driver and tour guide. He was so kind, always smiling, knew English well, made everyone feel happy and included, told us interesting stories about the places we visited and was a very skilled driver. Great trip. Unreal value for money. Tony was safe and fun. Breathtaking views. I did the 2 day tour. Felt like that was plenty of time to do everything. I would recommend the sleeper bus. All very easy and low stress.
