Hanoi ist tausend Jahre alt und zugleich eine französische Kolonialhauptstadt, beides auf einmal: die 36 Gassen der Altstadt, jede nach der Zunft benannt, die dort handelte, der See des zurückgegebenen Schwertes in ihrer Mitte, der Literaturtempel von 1070, das Mausoleum, in dem Ho Chi Minh aufgebahrt liegt (nur vormittags, montags und freitags geschlossen sowie zwei Monate im Herbst), und das baumbestandene französische Viertel mit seinen Villen und dem Opernhaus. Die Cafés der Train Street, wo die Bahn einen Meter neben den Tischen vorbeifährt, öffnen und schließen, je nachdem, wie die Behörden gerade entscheiden. Der Eierkaffee wurde hier 1946 erfunden, bun cha ist das Mittagessen, und das Wasserpuppentheater am See ist der Abend. Von Dezember bis Februar ist Hanoi kühl und grau, von Mai bis September heiß; Oktober und November sind die besten Monate.

Messi was brilliant, gave info on cultural history, show us how to wrap spring rolls. food was good and some unusual. we ask to have a egg coffee, Messi took us to a hidden coffee shop which we enjoyed. the highlight was train street, Messi took care of us, found seats for us at cafe. very atmospheric and exciting for our first time. Overall trip was excellent.
This was a wonderful tour, full with little Viernamese food gems! John and Wuw did a great job and we would never have experienced these flavours and these little shops without them!
Had a brilliant time on the Hanoi food and Train Street tour. The food was banging , so much variety and all of it tasty. Doris, our guide, was a total star , super friendly, knew loads about the area and made the whole thing really fun. Loved walking through the tiny streets, trying local dishes and watching the train whizz past so close! Definitely recommend if you fancy a proper taste of Hanoi.
I had a fantastic experience with Messi. Thanks to him, I was able to discover incredible dishes and visit unique spots that I never would have found on my own. His deep knowledge of Hanoi’s history truly enriched the tour, and his friendly demeanor made it feel like I was just hanging out with a good friend.
Jenna was FANTASTIC! She asked for our preferences in advance to craft the perfect itinerary, was super punctual and friendly and made us feel warmly welcomed. Her English was PERFECT and she shared a lot of information about Vietnam and typical food with us. She accepted all of our requests and always made sure we were at ease, helped us cross the streets and took care of us at every moment, suggesting us the best recipes and explaining what we were eating in detail. She was talkative and sweet, but also very discreet and calm, and took a lot of pictures of us before we could even ask! Everyt
We had a great time with Messi. He showed us many places in old quarter and train street for 3+ hours. His food selection was excellent, and customised to our preference. He also explained history and tradition of Vietnam.
Jenna our guide was wonderful. She introduced us to some amazing Vietnamese food and was very informative as we walked through the many streets and alley ways of the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Highly recommend Jenna and this tour.
