Our guide Kien and his assistant was simply wonderful! Made us feel so welcome and shared stories with a very personal narrative with us things that we can only learn if you have someone bringing you around making history come alive! We will never look at buildings in Hanoi the same again!

I highly recommend this tour with Duong! He knows a lot about Hanoi’s history and, more importantly, he knows how to explain it in a really engaging way. We got to discover a different side of Hanoi, including its self-built architecture and how the city changed as a result of the war. A great way to see the city from a different perspective!

Our guide Dung is spectacular. She is very well spoken and you can tell she is passionate about her country and its history. The tour offered a glimpse of how the last couple of centuries have impacted the ordinary citizen, as well as how it shaped the country today. We also ended with a nice coffee on train street. If you are looking for a tour that is off the beaten path I recommend this one.

Kien was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable. I highly recommend the tour to anyone. Specifically as an American curious about the Vietnamese side of history, this exceeded all expectations. His companion for the tour, Alle was an excellent conversationalist and added much to the tour. Thank you both very much!

Had an excellent time on this tour with Kien. I was fortunate enough to be the only person on the tour so Kien was able to tailor the tour to my interests and prior knowledge. It was like speaking to an old friend and an extremely valuable insight in to the minds of how Vietnamese people of all ages think and feel about thier history and what people think will be the next steps for Vietnam. This was an amazing story telling experience and our guide Kien was the best guide I've ever experienced. he was knowledgeable, friendly and very intelligent. This tour was very informational and super easy. A lovely way to get to know Vietnam. I would do it again. Highly recommend.

Very interesting and informative. I particularly liked the tour around the streets. If you are a history buff like me, then you might want to go back and visit the prison again to read and listen to the stories/videos/ paraphernalia provided by the Prison museum, as there was not enough time to do it all in one visit. I’m glad I went and would recommend.

Kien was an amazing tour guide and I highly recommend him and the tour if ever visiting Hanoi. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Vietnam and Hanoi and provided a worldly perspective on the topic. Very friendly and easy to talk to, got to know a few hidden gems I would’ve never known about if it weren’t for him. 10/10, 5 stars, high five, would do again!
