El Tonle Sap es el lago de agua dulce mas grande del sudeste asiatico e invierte su direccion dos veces al ano: en el monzon el Mekong empuja el agua de vuelta hacia el rio Tonle Sap y el lago se hincha varias veces su tamano, para luego drenar de nuevo a partir de noviembre. Los pueblos que viven en el se adaptan a eso. Las casas sobre pilotes de Kampong Phluk se elevan de seis a diez metros sobre sus patas, secas por debajo en marzo y a la altura de los tobillos en octubre; Kampong Khleang es mas grande, mas alejado y mucho menos visitado; Chong Kneas es el mas cercano a Siem Reap y el mas turistico. I loved this tour of the Tonle Sap lake and highly recommend Angkor Guide-Sarak as a guide. He is very knowlegeable about Cambodia generally, speaks perfect English is helpful and made the tour of the fishing village very interesting.
