Our guide brought Gwalior Fort to life with stories I'd never have got from a guidebook. The carvings on the Sas Bahu Temple were stunning and he knew exactly which angles to photograph. We took the car option and it was money well spent, no fuss getting between the fort and Jai Vilas Palace. A genuinely memorable day.

The Durbar Hall at Jai Vilas Palace floored me, those chandeliers are unreal, and our guide explained the whole elephant-on-the-roof test. He was patient with my endless questions and adjusted the pace so my wife could rest between the fort steps. Booking was straightforward and the confirmation came through quickly. Really good tour and a knowledgeable guide. My only honest gripe is the heat, we went in September and the climb up the fort was brutal by late morning. Wish we'd started earlier. That said, the Sun Temple at sunset was gorgeous and worth pushing through for. Take the car and bring more water than you think you need.

Excellent value for a fully private guide. We chose the guide-only option and arranged our own auto-rickshaws, which worked fine, though next time I'd pay for the car. The Teli Ka Mandir and the fort ramparts gave incredible views over the city. Our guide's English was clear and he never rushed us at the museum.

We travelled with our two kids and they were captivated, especially by the silver toy-train in the Jai Vilas museum and running along the fort walls. Our guide was wonderful with them and kept the history fun rather than dry. The car and driver made the whole day stress-free. One of the best family days of our India trip.

Solid tour with a friendly, well-informed guide. It's a long full day and by the Sun Temple stop we were flagging a little, so pace yourself. The fort itself is spectacular and the Man Singh Palace tilework is worth the climb. Good value on the car option given how spread out the sites are. Would book again.
