Kintamani es la cresta en el borde de la caldera del Batur, a unos 1.500 metros, y el mirador de Penelokan contempla el volcan, el campo de lava de la erupcion de 1968 y el lago Batur. Hace el frio suficiente para una chaqueta. Penglipuran, en Bangli en la carretera de subida, es un pueblo tradicional de callejuelas empedradas y recintos con techo de bambu que mantiene su trazado segun normas del pueblo, con un bosque de bambu detras. Las plantaciones de cafe a lo largo de esta carretera venden degustaciones de arabica y robusta locales y del kopi luwak procesado por civetas; las degustaciones son gratuitas con la expectativa de una compra, y vale la pena preguntar por las civetas enjauladas de algunas de ellas antes de comprar.

The tour had exactly what I wanted to see, the Tegalalang rice terrace, a coffee plantage and the mountain/vulcano overview. I could take all the time I needed and didn't feel rushed at all. Not only did I see all the beautiful landscapes, I also learned a lot about Bali, the culture/traditions and its people. The driver was very knowledgable and I could ask him anything. There was some time left after we saw everything and I could even make suggestions to go to other places I wanted to see. So we also went to Ubud Palace and the market. I had a lovely day! Would really recommend this tour.

It was a great and very diverse tour. The Rice fields were gorgeous, and the view of the vulcano was truly amazing especially as I could enjoy it while having a great lunch. My driver/guide Mr Pancha was a sweetheart, a true gentlemen and very knowledgeable. Can highly recommend the tour!

The summit of Batur before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so bring a real warm layer and a windproof one; dressing for Bali's lowland heat is the most common mistake. The climb is a steady two hours on loose volcanic ground with a steep final section, fine for average fitness in closed shoes. The trek is guided-only through the village association and that fee is included in the price.
