Takayama, en las montañas de Hida al norte de Nagoya, conservó sus calles comerciantes de la era Edo, mercados matutinos y destilerías de sake, y Shirakawa-go, una hora más allá, es el pueblo catalogado por la UNESCO de granjas gassho-zukuri con techos de paja empinados construidos para la nieve. Los tours de un día desde Nagoya, Kanazawa o Takayama mismo van al pueblo; el mirador sobre él es la vista, y el invierno, cuando los techos llevan dos metros de nieve y el pueblo se ilumina en algunas noches de enero y febrero, es la razón por la que muchos van. Lovely experience. Our tour guide was very friendly and helpful. Be prepared for snow in December. Wonderful experience would definitely recommend 🙌🏻🇯🇵

I liked that we got to visit 3 different places in this tour as other tours companies only bring you to two. Wished we had more time in Takayama as we had only 2 hours (which was enough for hida beef sit down lunch and sake tasting). Wished we had a bit more time to shop and visit some museums, so you really need to choose your priorities. Shirakawa-go was absolutely beautiful! The guide was punctual and gave good instructions and rules so that people are on time. It was a larger group of over 40 people and it was not just an English tour. The guide will be speaking the entire time in 3 langua
