La recuperacion de tierra de Port City en Colombo creo un tramo de agua protegida justo al lado del centro de la ciudad, y los operadores de deportes acuaticos lo usan para las actividades remolcadas que necesitan condiciones planas. El esqui acuatico es una de ellas, y esta es una unica y corta sesion en el agua en lugar de un curso de media jornada.

Primero recibe una charla informativa en tierra: como sentarse en el agua con los esquis hacia arriba, donde sujetar la cuerda, y la instruccion mas importante, que es dejar que el bote lo levante en lugar de intentar ponerse de pie usted mismo. El piloto del bote y un observador dirigen la sesion, y la velocidad se ajusta a lo que pueda manejar en lugar de a un numero fijo.

Los principiantes deben esperar que los primeros dos o tres intentos terminen con la cara llena de agua de mar. Eso es normal, y la mayoria de la gente se pone de pie y esquia hacia el cuarto o quinto tiron. Los esquiadores que ya saben lo que hacen pueden saltarse la instruccion y simplemente usar todo el turno en el agua. En cualquier caso, se usa un chaleco salvavidas en todo momento y el bote se mantiene cerca.

El agua esta mas plana y limpia en los meses mas secos, de noviembre a abril aproximadamente; durante el monzon del suroeste, de mayo a septiembre aproximadamente, se forma oleaje en esta costa y las sesiones se trasladan o cancelan comunmente por motivos de seguridad.

Es una buena emocion corta para una hora libre en Colombo y no requiere experiencia, pero es una actividad unica en lugar de un dia completo, asi que combinela con algo mas en el paseo maritimo.
