Esta es la version de cascadas del dia costa-montañas, y va mas lejos tierra adentro que la excursion estandar de Ella para llegar a Diyaluma.

Diyaluma mide 220 metros, la segunda cascada mas alta del pais, y cae del escarpe de Uva en una sola lamina visible por completo desde la carretera. La mayoria de la gente la fotografia desde abajo. La subida a las piscinas naturales infinitas en la cima toma unos 45 minutos sobre terreno empinado y suelto y es la parte que merece la pena si tiene el calzado y las piernas para ello, sentarse en una piscina de roca en el borde de una caida de 220 metros es la imagen, y tambien es realmente peligroso, con un borde sin vallar donde ha habido muertes.

Las cascadas de Ravana, mas cerca de Ella, son las junto a la carretera: amplias, poderosas en la temporada de lluvias, y nombradas por el rey demonio del Ramayana.

Halpewatte es la mayor fabrica de te de la region de Uva y una de las mejores para visitar, la hoja pasa de la artesa de marchitado al enrollado, la oxidacion y el secado hasta la mesa de clasificacion, y la visita termina en una terraza con vista sobre las plantaciones.

Doce horas, ocho de ellas de conduccion, que es el coste honesto de llegar a las montañas desde una playa.

Ella es un pueblo a 1.040 metros en las montañas del sur, al que se llega en el tren desde Kandy que la mayoria considera el trayecto ferroviario mas bonito de Asia, y sus lugares de interes estan todos a pocos kilometros: el puente de los nueve arcos, un viaducto de ladrillo de 1921 en un desfiladero de te, que un tren cruza varias veces al dia; el Little Adam’s Peak, una caminata de 40 minutos entre te hasta una cresta; Ella Rock, una subida mas exigente de tres horas; y las cascadas de Ravana en la carretera hacia Wellawaya. Las mañanas son claras y las tardes de los meses humedos traen nubes al paso, por eso las caminatas se hacen temprano. Los tuk-tuks son el transporte, y cualquier alojamiento puede conseguir uno.
