Un poblado de oasis reconstruido en el rompeolas, con un zoco activo, metalurgicos, alfareros y tejedores, y la vista mas clara y directa del horizonte de Abu Dhabi al otro lado del agua.

Este poblado es el contrapeso de todo lo demas en la ciudad. Abu Dhabi es vidrio y marmol; aqui hay refugios de hojas de palma barasti, un canal de riego falaj, un campamento y una mezquita, dispuestos como habria sido un asentamiento costero antes del petroleo.

Los artesanos estan trabajando, no actuando. El metalurgico fabrica piezas de verdad, el torno del alfarero gira, y el tejido se hace en un telar y no en una vitrina.

Un guia marca la diferencia aqui. Sin uno, parece una reconstruccion agradable; con uno, se convierte en una explicacion de como vivia realmente la gente en esta costa: de donde venia el agua, como funcionaba la pesca de perlas, y por que los edificios tienen esa forma.

La entrada al poblado es gratuita, asi que lo que se paga es el guia.

Vaya a ultima hora de la tarde: la luz sobre el horizonte al otro lado del agua es mejor entonces, y los artesanos siguen trabajando.
