Al Ain esta a noventa minutos tierra adentro desde Dubai, en la frontera con Oman, y es la unica ciudad emirati que nunca fue reconstruida, lo que la convierte en la excursion de un dia mas interesante desde Dubai y una que casi nadie hace.

El oasis esta declarado Patrimonio de la UNESCO y sigue en funcionamiento. Unas ciento cincuenta mil palmeras datileras se riegan con el falaj, el sistema de canales subterraneos que funciona aqui desde hace tres mil anos, y camina por los senderos sombreados entre ellas mientras el agua se mueve bajo sus pies.

El mercado de camellos es la otra razon para venir. Es un mercado de ganado autentico donde los animales se comercian entre personas que los crian, ruidoso, animado y completamente sin preparar, no algo organizado para visitantes.

Luego el Museo de Al Ain y el fuerte donde nacio el jeque Zayed, y la subida a Jebel Hafeet: once kilometros de curvas hasta 1.200 metros, mencionada a menudo como una de las mejores carreteras de conduccion del mundo, con todo el desierto extendido en la cima.

La carretera hasta Jebel Hafeet al atardecer es la parte que la gente recuerda. Pida el horario que lo capte.

If we could give more than five stars, we would. The tour was an absolutely amazing and memorable experience! Not only did we learn so much during the time, but our Egyptian tour guide Ahmed Elshemy and our driver Shafiq really made sure to meet our individual requests and make the tour „ours“. Have done group tours before, not even slightly comparable. Everyone who has the chance to go on this tour should absolutely take it, it was worth every last cent!!

Our guide, who was also the driver was very informative. The only thing we were disappointed about is that the touroperator did not mention that even TWO items had to be skipped from the tour: one museum could not be visited because under construction, the second was the camelmarket that appeared to be closed due Covid in camels. This was already known more than a month ago!

The Oasis was really great. We took a driven buggy because it had a guide but our guide really didn’t say much so if I was to do it again I would hire the much cheaper self cycle bike.
