El helicoptero va primero. Doce minutos sobre el Burj Al Arab, la Palm Jumeirah y el Burj Khalifa, la unica forma de ver la Palm con la forma con la que fue disenada en lugar de como una red de carreteras.
Luego lo contrario. Los callejones con torres de viento de Al Fahidi, construidos por comerciantes de perlas con coral y yeso, recorridos a nivel del suelo con un guia. El abra que cruza el Creek de Dubai: el barco de madera que hace esta ruta desde hace decadas. Los zocos de oro y especias en la otra orilla.
El contraste es el argumento. Desde quinientos pies, Dubai es un diagrama; desde un callejon de Al Fahidi es una ciudad que estaba aqui mucho antes que todo eso.
Notas practicas. El helicoptero depende del clima y la bruma de verano desplaza los horarios; si el vuelo se cancela, la mitad a pie se realiza igualmente. Y la parte a pie dura unas tres horas, asi que use zapatos pensados para eso y no para las fotos.
