Dos días por los dos paisajes que la gente confunde entre sí: Ninh Binh y la bahía de Ha Long.

Son la misma geología haciendo dos cosas distintas. A Ninh Binh se la llama a menudo la bahía de Ha Long de interior, y es exacto: las mismas torres de karst calizo, pero saliendo de los arrozales y de un río en lugar del mar. Uno se mueve por él en una barca pequeña de remos, y los remeros, como es fama, manejan los remos con los pies.

El primer día es la mitad de interior. Hoa Lu fue la capital de Vietnam en el siglo décimo, bajo las dinastías Dinh y los primeros Le, antes de que se trasladara a lo que hoy es Hanói; los templos están en un cuenco de caliza que hacía defendible el lugar. Tam Coc es el paseo en barca, tres cuevas que el río atraviesa, con los karsts lo bastante cerca a ambos lados para tocarlos. Las cuevas de Mua son la subida: unos 500 escalones de piedra hasta una estatua de dragón en la cresta, y la vista desde arriba es la fotografía que hizo famosa a Ninh Binh.

El segundo día es la bahía de Ha Long en sí, donde las mismas torres salen del mar.

La noche se pasa en un bungaló y no en un bloque de hotel, lo que en Ninh Binh suele significar estar fuera, entre los karsts, y no en el pueblo.

El transporte es un autobús limusina de 22 plazas, lo que en las carreteras vietnamitas significa asientos reclinables y espacio en lugar de un autocar.
