Hanói tiene mil años y es a la vez una capital colonial francesa, las dos cosas al mismo tiempo: las 36 calles del Barrio Antiguo, cada una con el nombre del gremio que comerciaba allí, el lago de la Espada Restituida en su centro, el Templo de la Literatura de 1070, el mausoleo donde yace expuesto Ho Chi Minh (solo por las mañanas, cerrado lunes y viernes y dos meses cada otoño) y el barrio francés arbolado, de villas y Ópera. Los cafés de la Train Street, donde el tren pasa a un metro de las mesas, abren y cierran según cambian de opinión las autoridades. El café al huevo se inventó aquí en 1946, el bun cha es la comida y el teatro de marionetas de agua junto al lago es el plan de la noche. Hanói está fresca y gris de diciembre a febrero y calurosa de mayo a septiembre; octubre y noviembre son los meses.

This was such a peaceful afternoon learning about and doing Vietnamese embroidery. The instructor was warm and friendly and was knowledgeable about the skills as well as the history and shared stories.
I had a one-on-one lesson about traditional methods of Vietnamese embroidery by a lovely lady. It was held on the first floor of a beautiful class in the heart of the Hanoi Old Quarter. They made my embroidered lotus flower motif into a useful little bag to use. I was given tea and sweets whilst I waited. A beautiful authentic experience.

such a fun activity, the ladies teaching you are very helpful and a fun to have a chat with. the artwork on the walls is stunning. definitely recommend!
They were very patient and have great instructions. They took us through the particular stitches required at each necessary point, only demonstrating a bit to make sure we understood, after which they only stepped in if we had an issue or they needed to give gentle correction. It was a thoroughly calming and meditative experience and I'm now very keen to try this at home!
We loved the embroidery, the guides were very helpful and patient and gave us a great introduction to some beginner embroidery techniques.
