Sa Pa está a 1.600 metros en las montañas Hoang Lien, cerca de la frontera china: una estación de montaña francesa de los años veinte que hoy es la base para hacer trekking por los valles en terrazas de las aldeas hmong, dao y giay. La caminata clásica baja desde el pueblo por Cat Cat o Y Linh Ho hasta Lao Chai y Ta Van, a lo largo del valle de Muong Hoa, de cinco a seis horas, con comida en una casa del pueblo y, en la versión de dos días, noche en un homestay; la mayoría de los trekkings los guían mujeres hmong de la zona, y los senderos quedan embarrados después de la lluvia. El Fansipan, el pico más alto de Indochina con 3.143 metros, se sube en 15 minutos de teleférico o en dos días a pie. Las terrazas están inundadas y como espejos en mayo y junio, y doradas en septiembre; de diciembre a febrero hace frío, hay niebla a menudo y de vez en cuando nieva. El mercado dominical de Bac Ha, a dos horas, es el gran mercado de los hmong de las flores.

Mama ShuShu, Yaya, and Hwu were such excellent guides and hosts! The homestay is in a very beautiful, mountainous area of Sapa, surrounded completely by nature. Mama ShuShu is so generous and makes you feel at home with her family. The trekking is intense but so worth it! (there are also more gentle routes if needed, though we did not take them).
I did the 3-day hike with Mama Shushu, and it was honestly one of the best experiences I’ve had in Vietnam. Mama Shushu is one of the most loving and caring people I’ve met here. She and her family made me feel so welcome from the very beginning, and I felt great the entire time — both while trekking and staying at the homestay. One of my favorite moments was on the second day when I joined them in preparing dinner. We had such a fun time together, and I have to mention the French fries… they are absolutely to die for. You’ll understand once you try them yourself — I ate an insane amount of th
Wenn ihr in das Leben in einem Hmong-Dorf eintauchen wollt, dann besucht unbedingt Mama Shushu. die Trekkingtouren habe ich mit ihrer Tochter Yaya gemacht und beide haben tolle (auch persönliche) Einblicke in ihre Welt und das Leben in den Bergen bei Sapa gegeben. Mama Shushu hat zudem den Zusatz Mama ganz klar verdient, sie kümmert sich um ihre Gäste ganz wunderbar. Das Essen bei Mama Shushu war ebenfalls ganz hervorragend. Alles in allem waren die 3 Tage ein ganz außergewöhnlicher Fall von Glück. Insbesondere Mama Shushu und Yaya, aber auch der ganzen Familie, wünsche ich von Herzen alles Li

We spent three exceptional days, whether during the day with Mimi, or even in the evenings spent with her and Mama Shu Shu. What we really enjoyed was talking with them and learning a lot of things about the culture of Vietnam and, more particularly, about their village. We had three fantastic days with Mama Shushu and her family. Her daughter Mimi went hiking with us, and we were able to discover so much and get to know the culture. Had an amazing time with mama Susu and the family. Mama Susu was a great host and made us feel at home. During the day we hiked through the rice fields and mountains of Sa Pa. Mimi was a great guide.
